IMAGE 2 - Image shows Swan Neck deformity as a result of the Mallet Injury.
IMAGE 3 - Thermoplastic splint positions the PIPJ in 20 degrees of flexion to correct the Swan Neck Deformity whilst immobilizing the DIP joint to heal the Mallet Injury. If there is no Swan Neck Deformity, the PIPJ can be excluded from the splint and only the DIPJ is immobilised for 6-8 weeks.The patient releases the strap to actively mobilize the PIPJ
