Fractured Elbow & Wrist - Secondary problems develop
Susan fell onto her right wrist and elbow, fracturing both resulting in the need for Open Reduction & Internal Fixation (see Images 1 & 2). Susan was referred for Physiotherapy but was soon referred to me as she had developed chronic stiffness in her hand, which was unresponsive to traditional therapy. Image 3 shows her active finger extension and image 4 shows active finger flexion.
It is clear that she is initiating finger flexion with her intrinsics resulting in an abnormal pattern of motion. Susan has given consent to the application of the CMMS Technique and will be sharing her rehabilitation journey with you.
