Cricket Bat Injury
A 9-year-old girl sustained a cricket bat injury over the 3rd Metacarpal, resulting in an osteitis from the compound fracture due to a delayed treatment. The osteitis has been treated but now she has MCPJ stiffness not only in the middle finger but all the fingers. Also a significant extensro lag of the middle finger. She will require a percutaneous capsulotomy of the 3rd and 4th MCPJ's followed by flexor active movements in a dorsal block splint keeping MCP joints at 90 degrees of flexion. The extensor lag may be addressed much later if needed. The soft tissue coverage over the dorsum of the hand also needs to soften and mature.
